So true. Learning a language is extremely humbling. Many people think they aren’t good at languages because they don’t recall a word after one hearing, not realizing that nobody does except toddlers. 🙂

Exactly! I still struggle with the wrong mindset when it comes to learning French or any other of the Romance languages, most likely because I didn’t find French and Latin interesting enough in middle and high school. I’m not interested in learning them anyway (my interests lie with Asian languages), but I’m a bit sad that I couldn’t look at those languages the same way I looked at English and German in school.
